restorations

A crown is a full coverage restoration that is placed on teeth that have large fillings or have lost a lot of their structure. Tooth structure can be lost due to decay or fracture. Fractures can occur in natural teeth of in teeth with older, previously placed restorations. A crown offers an esthetically pleasing and functioning restoration by protecting the tooth from chewing forces and future decay. We offer several different types of crowns ranging from full porcelain crowns, all gold crowns and porcelain

fused to metal crowns. Each type of crown offers certain advantages specific to the tooth being treated. Bridges are multiple crowns that are connected. Bridges are often used to help replace missing teeth.

Implant Crowns

Dental implants are titanium roots that are used to replace a natural tooth that is lost due to trauma, decay or gum disease. We refer our patients to an oral surgeon or periodontist to place the implant into the bone, after that heals Dr. Weaver will have the crown, bridge or denture made that will connect to the implant. Dental implants are great because they:

-are made of titanium and therefore cannot get “cavities”

-they allow for single tooth treatment without involving surrounding teeth

-they support bridge work for the replacement of multiple missing teeth

-they can stabilize loose or ill fitting dentures, anchoring them so that they stay in place while chewing and talking

Resines

Composite resins are also known as tooth-colored fillings. With the latest in dental bonding and adhesion technology we can preserve as much tooth structure as possible during the preparation. Tooth-colored restorations blend into the tooth and are much more esthetic than silver fillings. These fillings do not contain mercury which makes them better for you as well.
